NEXT Energy establishes itself
NEXT ENERGY is also establishing itself as a major player on a European scale
The EWE research centre for energy technology NEXT ENERGY has been accepted as a new member of the EUREC Agency ("European Renewable Energy Centers Agency"; www.eurec.be). With this decision, the influential network, which brings together the most important
European research institutes and universities in the field of renewable energies, recognises NEXT ENERGY's international presence and the unusually rapid development of expertise and equipment. The Oldenburg Institute only started research operations in August 2009.
"Being accepted into the EUREC Agency after such a short time is a great honour for NEXT ENERGY. It confirms our approach to date and recognises our international commitment," explained Institute Director Prof. Dr Carsten Agert on Wednesday after the EUREC members' meeting, adding that co-operation at European level is indispensable for NEXT ENERGY.
The EUREC Agency, which was founded in 1991, acts in an advisory and coordinating capacity at the interface between research, politics and industry. As an interest group for all aspects of renewable energy research, it coordinates cross-border research activities
and promotes co-operation between research institutions and industrial partners. EUREC also advises the European Commission on the conceptualisation of new research projects.
