Mentors have valuable experience in various areas of professional life that they can pass on. The German Physical Society (DPG) would like to make this wealth of experience available to its student members and is now offering a DPG mentoring programme for students for the third time. The DPG Mentoring Programme is aimed exclusively at DPG members who are expected to complete their studies (Diplom, Bachelor, Master) or their doctorate within the programme period up to September 2013 and are possibly planning to start a career in industry and business. The mentees are responsible for developing goals, pursuing them with the necessary organisational measures and, ideally, achieving them. The mentor accompanies and advises them in this process and sometimes also acts as a "door opener".
