Final Ceremony PPRE/EMRE 2017-19

Ruma Akhter from Bangladesh (PPRE 2017-19) shares her impressions of the final ceremony, which took place early december 2019 in Oldenburg.

Where one journey ends, another begins. The PPRE and EMRE programs marked a new beginning for most of the students, many of whom come from different parts of the world. They are divided by culture, language and career background but all of them are united by their passion towards a green energy-driven future. After endless group discussion sessions, classes, assignments, reports and tests, many colleagues turned into life-long friends.
On 6th of December 2019, the PPRE class of 2017-2019 and EMRE 2017-2018 celebrated their graduation with beloved teachers, colleagues and alumni members. This simple yet beautiful ceremony marked their transition from students into renewable energy experts, joining the prestigious list of PPRE and EUREC alumni.
The ceremony started with speeches from special guests, Paul Ziethe, who made the invisible electricity somewhat visible to his students. Followed by Varun Gaud, PPRE alumni who proved himself as one of the leading experts in the field.
It is not an easy task to summarise two years of memory into a slideshow of 15 minutes, but the students managed to do just that. The nostalgia, the sadness of leaving behind a wonderful life and the excitement of new possibilities all mixed to form a perfect cocktail of emotions. Then the students were handed their certificate, grade sheet and a red rose. The evening ended with cake, group photos, pizzas topped off with final hugs over drinks.
No matter where the road leads for these graduates, the sky is the limit. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
