  • SuRE and EMRE Students (Batch 2021)

The New SuRE and EMRE Batch 2021

In October 2021, we welcomed 21 new SuRE and 12 new EMRE students to Oldenburg. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the students started with a hybrid learning format.

This year, the 21 SuRE students (3 female) come from 15 different countries from 4 different continents (South America, Asia, Africa and Europe). The origin of the 12 EMRE students (2 female) include 8 different countries from the same 4 continents. The main academic backgrounds are Electrical Engineering (11 students), together with Mechanical Engineering (10 students) and (Renewable) Energy Engineering (7 students).

Although there are still Covid 19 restrictions, all but three students have arrived in Oldenburg. We expect the last 3 students to arrive before the end of 2021. To include all students in every lecture and to be able to quickly adapt to changing Corona restrictions, the PPRE team developed a hybrid learning format. This creates the opportunity to teach students simultaneously in-class and online. To keep everyone involved, a throwable microphone box is used so that online participants can also hear what their in-class colleagues say. Additionally, a webcam that shows in-class students is used so that online students can also see who is present.

Except for one group that does its laboratories online, all the other groups are able to attend the laboratory work in presence.
