Open Science

We are committed to making our research as transparent, accessible, and reproducible as possible. To support this, we follow the Open Science guidelines developed by the Department of Psychology’s Open Science Team (see https://uol.de/psychologie/open-science/osig/osig-commitment-to-research-transparency).

We preregister our studies and analysis plans before collecting or analyzing data, helping to distinguish planned analyses from exploratory research. Wherever possible, we share research data, materials, and analysis code in appropriate open repositories, while respecting privacy, ethical, and legal requirements. These practices enable others to understand, reproduce, and build on our findings. We also integrate open science principles into our teaching and encourage students to apply them in their own research projects and coursework.

We view meaningful participation and public engagement as important complements to transparent and open research. Where appropriate, we seek to involve patients, research participants, and members of the public in shaping research questions, study designs, and the communication of findings. We are also committed to making scientific knowledge accessible beyond academic audiences by communicating research clearly, accurately, and engagingly. Several members of our team contribute to SCoP - the Science Communication of the Department of Psychology, an initiative bringing together researchers at different career stages to promote public outreach and engagement, communicate new scientific findings, and help counter scientific misinformation.

By combining transparent and reproducible research practices with meaningful participation and accessible science communication, we aim to make our research more trustworthy, relevant, and useful.
