KoggE

The inclusive Centre of Competence for joint, holistic development support in childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, or KoggE for short, emerged from the Outpatient Clinic for ReHabilitation at the Institute of Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation.

As a central Institution, it combines offers of applied research, practice-oriented teaching and networking in the region (professionalisation, research-related services).

Concept

The Centre of Competence is cooperatively supported by all disciplines of the Institute of Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation in terms of its structure and content. The following overarching objectives are pursued:

  • Imparting qualifications for an academic and scientifically sound practical career, e.g. within the framework of research-based teaching-learning formats.
  • In-depth examination of the professional requirements in the field of special needs educational prevention, intervention and rehabilitation of people at risk.
  • Supporting the professionalisation process in which special needs educational diagnostic and therapeutic activities are instructed and supervised, so that centrally relevant professional skills and abilities are already trained during the course.
  • Linking research and teaching with a counselling and service orientation.
  • Advancing the expansion of the promotion of young talent and research-related, subject-specific services for the region.

In addition to tasks in the field of basic and application-related research, opportunities for work shadowing are created within the framework of practice-oriented teaching and further education/training events. Furthermore, student participation, e.g. in research-based learning projects, can be realised in connection with the respective research aspect. Research-related services offered include outpatient and inpatient diagnostics, counselling, therapy and support as well as further training for specialists. The services offered by the Centre of Competence KoggE thus take into account the heterogeneity of special needs educational target groups as well as individual life situations.
