Counselling Center for Augmentative and Alternative Communication

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) has been a central topic at the Institute of Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation at the University of Oldenburg since 2004. Since then, the Institute has had an AAC room. In this room, students and anyone interested in the topic have the opportunity to gain an overview of electronic and non-electronic aids and receive a brief introduction to the field of AAC. With the opening of the Outpatient Clinic for ReHabilitation of the Institute of Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation (now KoggE) in 2009, this room has been expanded into a counselling center for AAC. Since then, individual counselling and group visits have been possible by appointment. In the meantime, our field of activity has grown steadily. For example, we are the point of contact for the Weser-Ems AAC network. We are also involved in various research projects on the topic of AAC. Find out more about our wide range of services on our website.

In the period from 1 June 2026 to 16 June 2026, no aids and materials can be borrowed from or returned to the UK advice centre. After that, the designated consultation hours will apply again. In urgent cases, please contact Barbara Klaus-Karwisch. We ask for your understanding!

We offer short UK introductions, the testing of analogue and electronic means of communication as well as advice on didactic implementation - open to students and interested parties.

Office hours (lecture period): Mondays, 12-14 h

Outside the lecture period: by arrangement by email
