… the ICBM research group „Sea Surfaces“ currently took their remotely operated research device to sea. In August, members of the ERC grant-funded group are heading to the Arctic aboard the Swedish research ice-breaker Oden.

… the ICBM research group „Sea Surfaces“ currently took their remotely operated research device to sea. In August, members of the ERC grant-funded group are heading to the Arctic aboard the Swedish research ice-breaker Oden.

The research catamaran Cat then will investigate the delicate marine surface layers in the so-called sea ice leads. To be operated in these transient fractures within the sea ice, the research device has to be freeze proof. For principal tests and enhancements of sensors, insulation and sampling devices, drifting ice in the Jade Bay came just in time.
