Head of the group
Prof. Dr. Winklhofer studied geophysics at the University of Munich and did his doctor`s degree in 1999 about the physical basics of the magnetical sense of animals. After several years abroad as a postdoc in Tennessee and California (USA) and Teaching Fellow in Southampton (England) he qualified as a professor in 2007 at the University of Munich and has been granted in 2008 with a Heisenberg-Stipendium. While this time he was teaching at California and Zurich (Switzerland). In the year 2013 Prof. Winklhofer became an adjunct professor at the University of Munich. Before he changed to Oldenburg he was visiting professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen. He started his work as the head of the working group “Sensory biology of animals” at the Institute of Biology and Environment in winter semester 2016/2017.
