On November 17th, 2023, ForWind – Center for Wind Energy Research of the University of Oldenburg successfully organized the „ForWind Wind Physics Symposium 2023”.
More than 80 participants from research and industry lively discussed new possibilities of working together and found new ways of exchanging ideas. The scientists as well as ForWind employees presented cutting-edge research in the areas:
- wind resrouces for future wind farm clusters
- turbulent windfields and their interaction with wind turbines
- control and surveilance of wind turbines and wind famrs
Among the presented research topics were mesoscale modeling, cluster effects, minute-scale predictions, rotor aerodynamics, wake tracking and data-driven methods for wind farm control. The research methods included numerical fluid mechanics on all relevant scales, validation through wind tunnel tests, field measurements and operating data as well as the development of analytical and empirical models.
Prof Dr. Martin Kühn led the symposium and connected the academic research with the praticial application of the wind energy sector. It was a pleasure how many guests participated and it can only be said that this year’s symposium was a full success.
