Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Jochem Rieger
Projects
Jochem Rieger is full professor of Psychology at the University of Oldenburg. He is head of the Applied Neurocognitive Psychology group. He is interested in open science and using data driven statistical/machine learning methods to understand structural relationships between neural activation and perception/cognition/action in realistic, relatively unconstrained situations. This research is supported by multiple DFG grants. For more information about current and past projects see the lab's project page.
Lectures
Winter term 2024 / 2025
Short CV
From 1997 to 2000 he worked at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics with Karl Gegenfurtner and Heinrich Buelthoff and received a Dr. rer. nat. (PhD) from the Eberhard-Karls-Universität in Tübingen. He then was a research fellow at Stanford University with Brian Wandell and became a research group leader at Magdeburg University. From 2009-2014 he was a research fellow at the Knight Lab at UC Berkeley and since 2012 he is a full professor of Psychology. He received multiple grants for his research on the neural basis of visual and auditory perception, cognition, and behavior/decision making in realistic settings in the human brain and for the development of open science tools. Among them a grant for major research instrumentation (magnetoencephalograph), a DFG core center, as well as subprojects in DFG clusters of excellence (H4All, and H4All 2.0),a DFG-CRC (Active Hearing), and a DFG graduate school (Neurorehabilitation).
