Teaching staff and researchers at the University of Oldenburg who hold a relevant academic qualification (in psychology, special educational needs, or, where applicable, medicine) may, on the basis of this qualification, be granted permanent admission to view and borrow items from the test collection.

In addition, lecturers and researchers from other disciplines (e.g. subject-specific didactics) may be granted access to the test collection for the duration of their employment at the University of Oldenburg.

To apply for authorisation to view and borrow items from the test collection, please complete the proposal for use of the test collection on your computer.

You can submit the proposal in person at the media library, send it by post to the media library, or email it to . If applicable, please enclose copies of relevant supporting documents with your proposal (e.g. academic degree certificate, certificate of enrolment in psychotherapy training). Once the Psychology or Education Subject Department has approved your proposal, you will be able to make full use of the test collection. You will be issued with a dedicated test collection card as proof of authorisation.

• The library card and proof of authorisation are non-transferable. If you wish to authorise a third party to borrow items on your behalf, that person will also require an informal letter of authorisation signed by you.

Students without an academic qualification

Students at the University of Oldenburg who do not hold an academic degree in psychology, medicine or special educational needs may apply to lecturers at the University of Oldenburg for permission to view and/or borrow specific tests for the purposes of their studies.

Please complete the consent form for viewing/borrowing for students on your computer and have it signed by your lecturer and stamped by the department. You must present this form when borrowing or viewing materials in the media library.

Please note that only complete forms filled in on a computer will be accepted. In particular, please ensure that you

• tick the box next to ‘view the collection […] on site’ if you wish to view test procedures in the test collection,
• list all the tests you wish to borrow, including their (short) titles and call numbers (if you wish to borrow more than three test papers, please complete a further declaration of consent),
• enter the first name and surname of the relevant lecturer,
• in addition to the lecturer’s signature, you will also need a departmental stamp.

The declaration of consent is valid only for you personally and only for the specified semester.

Students with an academic degree

Students at the University of Oldenburg who already hold an academic degree in psychology, medicine or special educational needs can obtain permanent authorisation to use the test collection.

Students from other universities who do not yet hold an academic degree in psychology, special educational needs or medicine are not permitted to use the test collection. Library users with a relevant academic qualification (psychology, special educational needs, or, where applicable, medicine) may be granted permanent admission to view and borrow items from the test collection on the basis of their professional qualifications.

Graduates from related disciplines who are currently undergoing psychotherapy training may be granted permission to use the test collection for the duration of their training.

All test procedures available at the University Library are listed in ORBISplus and can be searched for there.

Tip: To search exclusively for tests, use the search function in ourORBISplus collection ‘Psychological Tests’.

Alternatively, you can use the generalORBISplus search and then narrow down your results to psychological tests in a second step: to do this, select ‘Psychological Tests’ as the media type in the left-hand column of your search results. By clicking on ‘Locations’, you can view where the test is located, its call number and whether it is currently available.

Not all test procedures listed in the library catalogue are held in the test collection. Only those with the location ‘UB, Media Library – Test Collection’ are held here. The call numbers for this location always begin with ‘101’. Test batteries with the location “UB, Special Location – Special Location 107” belong to the “Special Location for Diagnostic and Support Materials” of the Institute of Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation. The PSYNDEXplus Tests database, which is available on the university’s campus network, is particularly suitable for a thematic search for test procedures. PSYNDEXplus Tests provides detailed information on over 6,000 test procedures. The tests are organised, amongst other things, using a classification system; an overview can be found at: www.psyndex.de/psychologie/testklassifikation.php

Using the six-digit ‘Test classification code’, you can search the database specifically for tests relating to a particular subject area.

Further information on the database can be found on the website of the Leibniz Centre for Psychological Information and Documentation (ZPID).

You can find an overview of the test procedures currently available on the Testzentrale website. There, you also have the option to filter the tests by different categories, such as achievement tests, school tests and developmental tests, to find the right test for your research question.

The Education and Psychology subject departments will be happy to assist you in searching for suitable tests.

If there are any test procedures not included in the test collection, you are welcome to suggest them for purchase. Please use our online form for this purpose.

Test and evaluation forms relating to usage are usually provided with the tests. You may use these for your own evaluation. However, please ensure that you do not use any sheets bearing a library stamp or a call number label. These form an integral part of the test procedure and must not be used.
