Safety-Security-Interaction

Welcome to the Safety-Security-Interaction Group!

The Safety-Security-Interaction group is concerned with the development of theoretically sound technologies for maintaining the security of IT systems in the context of safety-critical systems and the Internet of Things. The focus is on the development of security solutions that are tailored to the context-specific conditions and that take into account various types of user-interaction as well as the functional safety of the to-be-protected systems.

Amina Bassit wins European Biometrics Award!

Amina Bassit wins the reputable Industry Award 2024 of the European Association for Biometrics (EAB) for her Ph.D. thesis „Fast and Accurate Biometric Search under Encryption”. Amina was co-supervised by Prof. Peter (University of Oldenburg), Prof. Veldhuis und Dr. Hahn (both University of Twente, Netherlands).

The European Association for Biometrics (EAB) awarded three young researchers for their outstanding work in the area of biometrics on 25 September 2024 during the 18th edition of the European Biometrics Awards. An international jury comprised of 13 members selected three candidates to present their contributions in front of the jury, EAB members and a public audience during a hybrid meeting. The three finalists were selected from a broad range of high-quality submissions.

The winner of the Industry Award was Amina Bassit, from the University of Twente (Netherlands), for her Ph.D. dissertation „Fast and Accurate Biometric Search under Encryption”. Amina was co-supervised by Prof. Peter (University of Oldenburg), Prof. Veldhuis und Dr. Hahn (both University of Twente, Netherlands). EAB members can find summaries of the theses of the winners in the Hall of Fame.
