Recommendations for the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in studying and teaching at the University of Oldenburg
The former Vice President for Studying, Teaching and International Affairs (Prof. Dr. Karsten Speck) has developed recommendations for dealing with generative artificial intelligence (GKI) in studying and teaching in coordination with the Department of Studying and Teaching and the extended group of deans of studies. The recommendations provide an orientation framework that should enable all stakeholders involved to deal with generative artificial intelligence (e.g. ChatGPT) in accordance with good scientific practice. The recommendations are intended as an initial basis and will be further adapted in the course of further digitalisation and the associated changes.

- Knowing and appreciating the wide range of possible applications and potentials
- Be informed about problems, limits and risks
Recommendations for the concrete use of CCIs in studying and teaching
- Define and communicate strategies for use in teaching at the beginning
- Get to know didactic implementation in consulting and qualification offers
- Document and provide evidence of use transparently and completely
Recommendations on the skills required for dealing with CCIs
- Promote students' skills for a reflective approach to CCIs
- Promote students' skills in scientific work
Recommendations on legal challenges and audits with CCIs
- Be sensitized to data protection, scientific and ethical principles and issues
- Check and adapt examination formats and tasks
- Sanction violations of the principles of good scientific practice
- Carefully observe references and declaration of independence
