Curriculum Vitae

Alexander Nicolai is W3 Professor for Entrepreneurship at the University of Oldenburg.

Prior to this, Professor Nicolai was at the Deutsche Bank Institute for family-owned enterprises at the Private University of Witten/Herdecke and as a visiting scholar at the Sloan School of Management of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, as well as Junior Professor for Strategic Management and Digital Economy at the Bauhaus University Weimar. In addition, he was guest lecturer at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management (HHL) and the Technical University of Dresden as well as representative of the Chair of Business Administration, especially SMEs, at the University of Siegen. He habilitated under Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Alfred Kieser. Alexander Nicolai was also an advisor to Loyalics GmbH and a member of the investment committee of the private equity company Innofonds Beteiligungs-GmbH, as well as co-founder of the Internet start-up Spotn.

Furthermore, he is a board member of Business Angel Weser-Ems-Bremen w.V., founder and chairman of the board of the incubator VentureLab e.V., founder and scientific director of the affiliated institute Sirius Minds (www.sirius-minds.com), associated researcher at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society, and member of the advisory board of osb international.

Professor Nicolai has already received several awards for his achievements in research (including the Citation of Excellence Award, Journal of Management Studies Best Paper Award) and teaching (Hans Sauer Award).
