Accounting and Corporate Governance
Accounting and Corporate Governance
Welcome to the website of the Chair of Accounting & Corporate Governance at the University of Oldenburg. Under the umbrella of the Department of Business Administration, Economics and Law, the team headed by Prof. Dr. Christoph Sextroh researches and teaches on a wide range of topics relating to corporate transparency and the resulting impact on relationships with various stakeholders, such as investors, customers, suppliers and employees.
Our research focuses on topics that reflect the dynamics and challenges of modern corporate reporting and corporate governance. These include, for example, issues in the areas of corporate transparency and (sustainability) reporting, capital market communication and investor relations, the processing and dissemination of corporate information by different stakeholders, as well as the significance and impact of alternative data and new information technologies for financial reporting and decisions by capital market participants. With our research, we aim to generate reliable, scientific insights that regulators, corporate leaders and capital market participants can use to make evidence-based decisions.
We offer a variety of courses that prepare students for real-life challenges in the business world. In addition to core subjects in the areas of financial and managerial accounting, these include courses on advanced topics such as sustainability reporting, corporate governance, auditing, accounting analytics and capital market communication. We also offer students the opportunity to acquire additional practical skills with the TOPSIM business simulation game and the DATEV professionalisation module. In our Bachelor's and Master's colloquia, students also train analytical thinking and empirical skills as part of their final thesis.
