Information for first semester students
Dear students,
Congratulations on your admission to the University of Oldenburg and a warm welcome to the Institute for German Studies!
We would like to help you find your way around and give you as much support as possible. Here is an overview of the most important information:
Orientation week: Information event
During the orientation week, there will be an information session for first-year Bachelor’s students studying German Studies on Tuesday 6 October 2026, from 5 pm to 7 pm in Lecture Theatre 1.

Please read the information very carefully and take note of the different enrolment deadline that applies to you.
To ensure you can draw up your timetable based on the information session during orientation week (see above), we have set the registration periods for the courses relevant to you (basic module lectures (seminars in ger010 and seminars in ger020)) set for 9 October 2026 . You can set your priorities and complete your registration via Stud.IP up until the time of the allocation draw (10 October 2026, 08:00). The registration deadlines for the tutorials in ger010 are 17 October 2026 (ger010) and 10 October 2026 (ger020).
Hardship applications for first semester students
First-year students may submit applications for hardship cases until Wednesday, 7 October 2026. In addition to the documents requested via the links below, please enclose a scanned copy of your enrolment certificate showing that you are in your first semester of German Studies.
You may only submit one application for special consideration. This applies to both the seminars and the tutorials in ger010 and ger020.
