Helmholtz Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity approved

Big success for Prof. Dr. Helmut Hillebrandt, head of the working group Planktology at the Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM): At the University of Oldenburg the Helmholtz Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity will be set up beginning in 2017. This has recently been agreed to by the senate of the Helmholtz society.

Hillebrandt and Prof. Dr. Thomas Brey, Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research, jointly have been the lead applicants in charge for this project. Hillebrandt will be the director of the new institute.
