Oliver Zielinski appointed as new member of AWI Board of Governors

Professor Dr Oliver Zielinski, who heads the Center for Marine Sensors (ZfMarS) as well as the research group Marine Sensorsystems at ICBM, recently was appointed with immediate effect to the Board of Governors of the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI).
 

Professor Dr Oliver Zielinski, who heads the Center for Marine Sensors (ZfMarS) as well as the research group Marine Sensorsystems at ICBM, recently was appointed with immediate effect to the Board of Governors of the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI).

The three years' appointment to the board of thirteen was made by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in agreement with the participating federal states.

Zielinski, who also is the scientific director and head of the research department Marine Perception at the DFKI-Laboratory Niedersachsen as well as head of the Competence Center AI for the Environment and Sustainability, attributes the appointment not only to his expertise in marine sciences, but particularly also to his work at DFKI, where he combines environmental sciences with intelligent technologies.
