One might regard 1925 as the year quantum mechanics was born – the year in which Heisenberg and other contemporaries laid the foundations for the new quantum theory, which has paved the way for today’s breakthroughs.

Nowadays, quantum mechanics is more than just a lecture in a physics degree course and a field of fundamental research: it forms the basis for new quantum technologies such as quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing and quantum simulation.
