Physics students make a special contribution
Physics student Matthias Langemeyer and Jannes Precht, pre-university students in the subject of physics, were awarded the OLB/EWE Prize for “outstanding academic achievement”. A total of eleven students (including two early-start students who are still at school) from the University of Oldenburg were honoured with this prize.
The jury assessed outstanding academic credits, excellent examination results and short duration of study, as well as exceptional commitment to projects and initiatives or voluntary work.
The individual prizes were worth 500 euros and 100 euros respectively for so-called pre-university students. These students take individual modules in selected subjects alongside their school studies and must cover the same volume of material as other students.
Oldenburgische Landesbank AG (OLB) and Energieversorgung Weser-Weser-Ems (EWE AG) have been awarding the OLB/EWE Prize for nine years now. In doing so, they are continuing the tradition, established at the University of Oldenburg in 1986, of recognising outstanding student achievements.
The award ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr Sabine Doering, Vice-President of the University; Ulf Mindermann, Head of Human Resources and Organisational Development at EWE AG; and Bernd Span, a member of the OLB Executive Board.
