Physics Day 2010
Physics Day 2010
Physics Day provides insights into fascinating research questions
For two days, everything at the University of Oldenburg’s Wechloy campus will revolve around study and career opportunities for mathematicians, physicists and chemists. On Wednesday 3 November, ‘Mathematics Day’ and ‘Physics Day’ will take place simultaneously. On Thursday 4 November, “Chemistry Day” will offer anyone interested in this discipline the chance to find out about studying it. The event is aimed at school pupils, teachers, first-year students and the interested public.
‘Physics Day’ begins on 3 November at 9.15 am with guided tours of the research laboratories. Among other things, ForWind, the Wind Energy Research Centre run by the Universities of Oldenburg, Hanover and Bremen, will be presenting its wind tunnel. In his lecture ‘Our Sun – Bright Energy for the Earth’, Prof. Dr Heinrich Bauer will provide an insight into experimental physics, whilst Prof. Dr Jutta Kunz-Drolshagen will speak on ‘Our Universe – Full of Dark Energy’. In the section ‘Degree … and then?’, graduates will answer questions about starting a career. As part of ‘Physics Day’, school pupils will be recognised for their outstanding achievements in the subject of physics. In addition, on the Ringebene, physics research groups and early-career researchers will provide information about their research. A presentation of the degree programmes rounds off ‘Physics Day’.
