We are proud to celebrate our alumna Silvia Caballero Zafra, who recently shared her expertise at the Congreso Internacional Expoacaire 2025 in Barranquilla, Colombia. Her presentation highlighted innovative solar-powered refrigeration solutions that advance sustainability in the HVAC industry.

Silvia Caballero Zafra, one of our outstanding alumni from the MSc in Sustainable Renewable Energy Technologies programme, was invited to speak at the Congreso Internacional Expoacaire 2025 held in Barranquilla, Colombia. In her talk, presented within the academic track of the event, she shared the key findings of her master’s thesis on solar-powered cold rooms, emphasizing their potential impact in Colombia—a country with vast solar energy resources.

Her presentation demonstrated how renewable energy technologies can complement and transform the refrigeration and air-conditioning (HVAC) sector, contributing to sustainable and energy-efficient industrial practices. The session also provided a valuable opportunity for professionals and researchers to exchange ideas, establish connections, and explore new opportunities for collaboration.

Silvia expressed her gratitude to Acaire Colombia for organizing the event, as well as to her academic mentors at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg and Solar Cooling Engineering GmbH, who supported her research during her studies in Germany.

Her dedication to applying renewable energy solutions in the refrigeration sector exemplifies the spirit of innovation and global engagement that defines our alumni community. We are proud to see her continue contributing to sustainable development and clean energy transformation worldwide.
