Alzobaer Alshaeki (SuRE 2023-2025) reports on this year’s International Entrepreneurship Summer School (IESS). Themed "Health, Energy, and Digitalization," the program brought together 12 participants and 7 experts over four dynamic days, aiming to empower aspiring entrepreneurs with essential skills and insights for success in these pivotal sectors.
The International Entrepreneurship Summer School (IESS) 2024, held from March 4th to 7th, 2024, at the University Oldenburg's Innovationscampus, V03 0-C001, brought together enthusiastic participants aiming to make a mark in the HED (Health, Energy, and Digitalization) sector. In collaboration with YES – Young Entrepreneurs in Science, the program offered a dynamic week focused on innovation, collaboration, and skill-building, catering to individuals of all experience levels. We engaged in activities to evaluate our skills and goals, explored future trends, honed strategic planning abilities, learned the Design Thinking method for user-centric product development, created and tested prototypes, and finally, developed and pitched our entrepreneurial stories.
One of the highlights of the summer school was the focus on nurturing new business ideas and practical skills for starting ventures. We began by engaging in the foundational topic of structuring ideas and learning essential brainstorming techniques. Split into two groups, we developed and refined business concepts, exploring various methods for effective brainstorming. One standout concept we worked on was about making eco-friendly solutions to save energy.
Throughout the program, we had the opportunity to interact with experts from different industries. Their insights, especially those shared by a specialist in using digital technology in the energy sector, provided valuable real-life examples and inspired further development of our ideas.
