One of the largest (235 Megawatt hours) battery energy storage systems in Germany

Westfalen (Hamm) and Neurath are two conventional power plants owned and operated by RWE. The available space in the plant territory is utilized to erect batteries to support grid stability.

Expansion of renewable energies and decommissioning of conventional power stations increase grid fluctuations. With these large batteries we aim to reduce grid fluctuations, enhance power quality and facilitates the grid to accommodate more renewable energy.

Sameer Sharma is working as an Electrical Project Engineer with RWE and currently based in Dresden. To know more about this project, feel free to reach out to me at sameer.sharma@rwe.com.
