For the first time, PPRE Alumni gathered to extend a warm welcome to new and current students at Campus Oldenburg this October. Alumnus Robin Marques Pais shares his experience of the PPRE gathering.

After my time with PPRE and EUREC, I remain impressed by the experience I gained when starting the program in 2019. Connecting with people from around the world during that period has resulted in friendships that I hold dear. Considering our future and the global challenges arising from climate change, I contemplated how to enhance the current PPRE network. From this consideration, the idea of hosting an annual PPRE Alumni meeting in Oldenburg was conceived.

Following several weeks of preparation, our inaugural PPRE Alumni meeting unfolded on Saturday, October 7th. And what can I say about it? It was truly amazing! The afternoon commenced with a warm get-together and compelling pitches from six Alumnae and Alumni. The presentations ranged from Ph.D. projects to personal and professional development in Germany, concluding with the international impact achieved. Each presentation showcased a diverse array of paths taken after completing the PPRE program.

We then enjoyed a sponsored dinner featuring delicious Indian cuisine, courtesy of energy & meteo systems GmbH. The evening concluded with alumnus and DJ John playing a mix of international songs for us.

A heartfelt shoutout to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of this event. The overwhelming positive feedback received ensures that this gathering will become an annual tradition. So, mark your calendars and be ready to join us in October 2024 for another enriching experience!
