Gianpiero Nacci, an alumnus of the Postgraduate Programme in Renewable Energy (PPRE) at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, graduated more than 20 years ago and has since become a leading figure in sustainable finance. As Managing Director at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), he plays a key role in shaping climate investment strategies that promote sustainable energy, energy efficiency, and green urban development.

The EBRD was recently recognised by Capital Finance International (CFI.co) as “Trailblazers in Climate Finance Initiatives – Europe 2025.” This award honours the bank’s efforts to place climate finance at the heart of its operations—from pioneering renewable energy and energy efficiency projects to supporting climate resilience and greener cities across its regions.

This recognition reflects the impact of dedicated professionals like Gianpiero Nacci, whose career exemplifies the values of innovation, sustainability, and global responsibility nurtured at the University of Oldenburg.
