Project description:
The German hospital sector is frequently the subject of public debate. This is due to the fact that the sector is heavily regulated and therefore affected by numerous legal reforms. Common discussion topics are, among others, the amount, financing and personnel situation of hospitals. The latter can be characterized by an increasing demand for medical staff – with hardly any change in the supply of personnel. In addition to that, there are regional and professional differences in the demand.
The P-RaRe study aims to examine the personnel situation in hospitals and focuses on the difficulties of hospitals recruiting physicians. It also aims to shed light on the recruitment and retention strategies with which they react to the increasing demand for physicians. Therefore, expert interviews will be conducted with personnel officers and managers. Field access will be gained through the Department for Organizational Health Services Research. The data analysis is carried out by content analysis.
