Recommendations on the future organisation of live-in care in Germany
The TriaDe project, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), ‘Eastern European live-in carers in home care triads for people with dementia’ (led by Dr Milena von Kutzleben, Prof. Dr Jo Reichertz and Prof. Dr Mark Schweda, project number 509885213) investigates the home care of people with dementia provided by Eastern European live-in carers (TriaDe). As part of a workshop entitled ‘Live-in Care: A Model for the Future or a Thing of the Past?”, which took place on 27–28 November 2025 at the Institute for Cultural Studies in Essen, recommendations on the future structure of live-in care in Germany were drawn up in collaboration with 35 experts from academia and practice. These were sent to the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) on 20 April 2026 and are available here: https://nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:gbv:715-oops-74910
Collaboration between the University and the City of Oldenburg: Age-Friendly Cities
The “Age-Friendly Oldenburg” project continues to gain visibility: as part of the successful collaboration between the University of Oldenburg and the City of Oldenburg, the joint work on age-friendly urban development is once again taking centre stage. Our Department of Prevention and Rehabilitation is contributing scientific expertise to this effort, with the aim of gaining sound insights into the situation of older people in Oldenburg and providing practical impetus for local authority measures. The close integration of research and urban development strengthens sustainable structures for ageing well.
Further information on the co-operation can be found at the City of Oldenburg.
