Welcome to the Core Facility Biobank Structure in Oldenburg
The Core Facility (CF) biobank structure is an infrastructure for researchers. It provides hardware and software solutions and advises researchers on biobanking topics.
The aim of the CF biobank structure is to support research projects involving the University Medicine Oldenburg (UMO).
Astrid Petersmann is Professor of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IKCL) at the University Medicine Oldenburg. She is a specialist in laboratory medicine and a graduate biologist and has been head of the IKCL at Oldenburg University Hospital since 2020. In 2023, she was elected scientific director of the CF biobank structure by the biobank structure's utilization council.
Her particular areas of expertise are patient-oriented immediate diagnostics and NMR spectroscopy. In research, she is dedicated to the investigation of the metabolome and the biochemical characterization of large clinical-epidemiological cohorts. Important cooperation partners include SHIP, NAKO, MuSPAD, ELISA and STAAB.
It is involved in the University Medicine Network and the German Biobank Node. She is a member of the Genetic Diagnostics Commission at the RKI as well as the specialist group D1 of the Rili-BÄK and is active as a trained peer in the peer review procedure in accordance with the Rili-BÄK as part of the curriculum of the German Medical Association.
