The Voluntary Scientific Year (FWJ) application and selection process

The Voluntary Scientific Year (FWJ) places offered by the university can be found at Open volunteer places (in German). You can apply for up to three places.
The following documentation must be submitted for each place you apply for:
- A letter of motivation addressed to the working group
- Your CV
- Your most recent school report
- Further references/certificates from internships/voluntary work, if applicable
The application deadline is usually at the end of February. An extension may be possible under certain circumstances.
Please send your application (as a single PDF file) to the following address: fwj@uol.de. The research working groups review the documents received and select suitable candidates who they would like to get to know in a personal interview. Unfortunately, travel expenses in connection with interviews cannot be reimbursed.
If your application is successful, you will normally receive an email to confirm that you have been awarded a place. Then the necessary administrative steps will begin, and you will receive an agreement to sign and further information by email.
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact the FWJ Coordination Office.
