The application and selection process is as follows:

1. Applications are only accepted during the application deadlines (see left) and via Stud.IP.
2. After the application deadline, the documents will be checked by the Scholarships service centre and any missing documents will be requested - usually by email.
3. From the complete applications, the President of the University and another member of the Board of Trustees will make a pre-selection of suitable candidates from the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes and recommend them to the other members of the Board of Trustees.
4. At a meeting of the Board of Trustees - usually in September - the scholarship holders of the year are determined according to a points system.
5. Shortly afterwards, the applicants receive an acceptance or rejection letter.
6. Funding begins at the start of the next semester.
7. At a small awards ceremony, the scholarship holders are honoured by the Board of Trustees and invited to a personal exchange. Participation in the award ceremony is expressly requested.
