Research interests

I am interested in the neural mechanism underlying selective spatial attention and their reflections in the EEG. Especially hearing-impaired people frequently report difficulties in understanding speech in background noise. One possible reason is the reduced ability to separate the acoustic information into discrete streams based on their location in space. The aim of my project is to determine whether the application of a deficit-specific training combined with EEG based neurofeedback, leads to an improvement in discrimination of separate acoustic streams. The project is funded by the PhD program 'Signals and Cognition' (MWK Niedersachsen).
