Wadden Sea World Heritage Summer School 2018
Wadden Sea World Heritage Summer School 2018
Short description
During this two-week summer school, students will explore the natural dynamics of the Wadden Sea together with scientists at the locations of Texel, Spiekeroog and Sylt. During the day, students will go out in the field to explore different parts of the Wadden Sea, to get to know current research that is being done at each of the three institutes and to study main ecological processes in intertidal environments, e.g. from biogeochemistry at the beach to predator-prey interactions on tidal flats. In the evenings, there will be a program of talks by local specialists on current and important topics with regard to the ecology, nature conservation and sustainable use of natural resources of the Wadden Sea. The summer school thereby strives to acquaint the participants with the ecology, but also with trilateral conservation and management aspects of this unique ecosystem.
