University clinic of Gynaecology and Obstetrics
The university clinic of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the Klinikum Oldenburg provides women with comprehensive care before, during and after childbirth within a level I center. There is a high proportion of high-risk births, premature births and multiple births. The department for ultrasound diagnostics and prenatal therapy, a certified dysplasia unit, a certified breast center and a gynaecological cancer center are also connected to the women's clinic. Around 2,000 children are born in the university clinic each year and around 3,000 surgeries are performed.
The range of treatments includes the care of births and high-risk pregnancies as well as prenatal ultrasound diagnostics. The department for ultrasound diagnostics with DEGUM-level III and -level II ultrasound experts look after the expectant mothers and their unborn children until they are born. (DEGUM levels: Certification by the German Society for Ultrasound in Medicine e.V.) The obstetrics is “baby-friendly” certified according to WHO standards. In gynaecology, all methods of minimally invasive surgery, including cancer surgery, are used. The entire spectrum of surgical gynaecology, including Mamma-surgery (breast surgery) and reconstructive breast surgery, is another focus. There are collaborations with plastic surgeons and numerous partner disciplines.
