Modeling Joule Heating Effect on Thermal Efficiency of Photovoltaic Thermal (PVT) Collectors with Operation Mode Factor (OMF)

Erkata Yandri (PPRE 2003-4) from Graduate School of Renewable Energy, Darma Persada University, Jakarta, Indonesia is researching on hybrid photovoltaic and thermal (PVT) collector. His recent research paper about modelling the effect of Joule heating on the thermal efficiency of a hybrid Photovoltaic-Thermal (PVT) collector (solar collector that produces electricity and heat) was published in MDPI. 

Erkata Yandri (PPRE 2003-4) from Graduate School of Renewable Energy, Darma Persada University, Jakarta, Indonesia is researching on hybrid photovoltaic and thermal (PVT) collector. His recent research paper about modelling the effect of Joule heating on the thermal efficiency of a hybrid Photovoltaic-Thermal (PVT) collector (solar collector that produces electricity and heat) was published in MDPI. 

The Joule heating effect is explained by modifying the Hottel-Willier equation for Flat Plate solar collectors published in 1958 by the University of Arizona Press. In the effective region, the effect of Joule heating in the PVP-mode state (PVT collector simultaneously produces electricity and heat) will provide additional thermal efficiency for the PVP collector. Modeling the Joule heating effect offers a dimensionless parameter, Operation Mode Factor (OMF).
