As national and regional policies to promote hydrogen use continue to evolve globally, it is anticipated that hydrogen will play a critical part in the energy mix of the future. Blending 5-50% of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) with the conventional jet fuel is a practical alternative for reducing lifecycle emissions in the aviation sector by 80% (Cabrera and de Sousa, 2022). In this case, renewable hydrogen derived from sustainable use of biomass could play a crucial role in the production pathway of SAF.
