Our student, Jihan A. As-sya'bani (SuRE 2023-25), reports on his semester break which he spent in his home country, Indonesia.
During the summer break of my study at Postgraduate Programmes Renewable Energy in Oldenburg, I had the chance to return to Indonesia. In this occasion, I was invited by my primary school and kindergarten teacher to pay a visit. I took this chance to introduce the kids there about renewable energy. Using a paper wind turbine and an electric fan, I made my ‚wind tunnel’ and showed them how we can convert energy from wind into electricity and how the airfoil profile orientation can change the direction of the paper turbine's rotation. I also slightly showed them the wake effect in a wind farm.
It was a fun experience. I hope there will be future renewable engineers from these kids.
Thanks to DAAD that supports this travel as part of my EPOS scholarship programme.
