Queer Studies and Intermediality: Art - Music - Media Culture

Under the theme ‘Queer Art, Talk and Media’, the new Helene Lange Research Group ‘Queer Studies and Intermediality: Art – Music – Media Culture’ invites you to its launch event: Thursday, 4 July 2013, from 5 pm, A8 0-001.

The centre of the Helene Lange Research College “Queer Studies and Intermediality” is occupied by works from the fields of art, music and media culture that are queer or described as queer – productions that interweave different forms of artistic expression and formulate alternatives to heteronormative structures and arguments. The research college explores the intersections between intermediality, queer performativities and aesthetic concepts, as well as the interplay between everyday practices and legal discourse. It analyses and discusses the extent to which queer artistic statements function as a politics of anti-normalisation.

The research fellows are: Ina Beyer (Dipl. Kult.arb.), Natascha Frankenberg (M.A.), Josch Hoenes (PhD candidate) and Rena Onat (M.A.).

The Helene Lange Research Group is led by Prof. Dr Barbara Paul (Institute of Art and Visual Culture, spokesperson for the research group), Prof. Dr Melanie Unseld (Institute of Music), Prof. Dr Silke Wenk (Institute of Art and Visual Culture) and Prof. Dr Andrea Sick (Bremen University of the Arts, Department of Cultural and Media History/Theory).

We would be delighted if you could join us for the event! Please refer to the flyer (attached as a PDF) for the detailed programme.

Kind regards, the Helene Lange Research Group “Queer Studies and Intermediality”
