Our excursion destination this year was the idyllic landscape conservation area "Höpen" in the Lüneburg Heath -
where the heather is always in bloom!" An unforgettable day full of nature and enjoyment awaited us here. After lunch at the Eckernworth forest restaurant in Walsrode, we explored the surrounding villages with our guide on the way to Schneverdingen. Our destination was the "Höpen", a heather garden with over 200 different types of heather and around 200,000 plants. There was also plenty of time to chat over coffee and cake.

Prof. Dr Ing. Jürgen Sauer, Faculty II; Department of Computing Science: "AI Artificial Intelligence"
On Thursday, 25 April 2024, the alumni initiative invited to a lecture on "AI - Artificial Intelligence". We were able to win Prof Dr Jürgen Sauer from Faculty II, Department of Computing Science, and around thirty interested people attended.
Using various practical examples (e.g. route planning for a journey, traffic management, games), he described the structure and algorithms for developing corresponding AI programmes.
He was able to present this new Computing Science technology in a way that was easy to understand for us former employees of retirement age. The subsequent discussion demonstrated the interest in this topic. Prof Sauer deserves great praise for his contribution.
