Availability of individualized hearing systems: Interaction of algorithms and interactive control

Despite intensive research and development, current hearing aids are still unable to completely compensate for a hearing impairment. A fundamental problem is the suboptimal adjustment of the constantly advancing hearing aid signal processing to the individual hearing impairment and the listening requirements in a given acoustic situation.

The aim of this project is to integrate the knowledge about the individual auditory deficit with techniques for the determination of user-oriented hearing requirements (e.g., gestural control of hearing aids) and with novel hearing aid algorithms, in order to optimize the benefit and the usability of hearing systems.
