Students on the adaptation programme

Registration for courses / cases of hardship

Important advance notice: From the winter semester 25/26 onwards, students on the bridging programme must register for courses themselves.

  • Therefore, to enrol for modules in the winter semester 25/26, please take part in the priority allocation process, which is described in detail here: https://uol.de/germanistik/lehrveranstaltungen-germanistik-anmeldeverfahren/das-anmeldeverfahren-was-muss-ich-wann-wie-tun. We will announce the registration deadlines via this link and via the German Studies mailing list (see below).
  • Further information on the registration procedure, e.g. regarding the handling of waiting lists, can be found at the following link: https://uol.de/germanistik/lehrveranstaltungen-germanistik-anmeldeverfahren.
  • New (added/amended on 19 August 2025): All students on the bridging programme are covered by the hardship provision. This means you will automatically be added to a hardship list, which is integrated into the registration process and significantly increases your chances of being admitted to the course you have set as your Priority 1. However, due to the large number of German Studies students, we cannot guarantee that you will be allocated your Priority 1 course. You should therefore include all courses within a module that do not clash with other university courses in your priority list.

Curricular sequence

The sequence of the curriculum also applies to students on the bridging course.

So, for example, if you have been required to catch up on the modules ger242 Linguistic and Literary Socialisation (for primary education) and ger800 Subject Didactics with a subject-specific component, you must complete the ger242 module in your first semester at the University of Oldenburg. Only then, i.e. in the following winter semester, may you study the module ger800.
In other words: successful completion of ger242 is a prerequisite for taking ger800.

Please note that the ger800 module is only offered in the winter semester!
