The four hospitals of University Medicine Oldenburg support the expansion of the Human Medicine degree programme from 80 to 120 places per year in future. They sign a joint declaration with Science Minister Björn Thümler after the governing parliamentary groups have anchored the financing in the double budget after a long struggle.

The Fairtrade Germany organisation has recognised the university as a Fairtrade University for its commitment to fair trade. The initiative originally came from the student parliament and the AStA. Student representatives, university management and the student union joined forces to obtain the seal. - 30 March 2022
The university joins the international "Scholars at Risk" network, which aims to protect researchers at risk and academic freedom worldwide. More than 500 universities and institutions from 38 countries belong to SAR. - 11 May 2022
Approval of a new research group by the German Research Foundation (DFG): Led by marine chemist Prof Dr Oliver Wurl, the researchers are investigating the complex biological, chemical and physical relationships in the uppermost layer of the oceans. - 13 May 2022
Inauguration of the research building of the Centre for Marine Sensors in Wilhelmshaven. The extension adjoins the ICBM headquarters on Schleusenstraße.
