Current research focuses of the professorship are:

• Cooperation research (e.g. multi-professionalism, multi-professional co-operation, co-operation between youth welfare, school and KJPP, school social work)
• Engagement research (e.g. civic and voluntary engagement, service learning, infrastructure facilities for promoting engagement, promoting engagement in structurally weak regions)
• School absenteeism research (e.g. truancy/refusal to attend school, support for disadvantaged, impaired and mentally disturbed children and young people)
• Educational research (e.g. digitalisation in higher education, research methods and skills development in international comparison)
• Intervention and effectiveness research (e.g. evaluation and effectiveness testing of prevention and intervention programmes and projects)
