KinderUni spring lectures: physics at low temperatures

Once again this year, Oldenburg KinderUniversität is offering eight- to twelve-year-olds exciting insights into the world of research. Having welcomed its 50,000th young visitor last autumn, a huge turnout is expected once more. Eight new lectures are on the programme, along with plenty of projects where children can carry out their own research.
But there’s more news for Children’s University fans: the Children’s University film crew needs help and is now looking for a ‘camera kid’ for each lecture. ‘Gong kids’ are also being sought once again. Simply fill in the online form to apply. And anyone who’s ever wanted to write about their experiences at the KinderUni will soon have the chance to do so on ‘Kuni’s Blog’. The KinderUni mascot is eagerly awaiting the first posts.

Things are set to get rather chilly with physicist Prof. Dr Achim Kittel on 30 March: in his lecture, he’ll reveal all about physics at low temperatures. Children’s University students can look forward to “billowing waves, flying vehicles and cool crystals”.

As well as the lectures, there are plenty of other opportunities for keen learners to get involved under the umbrella of the KinderUniversität, for example online with ‘Physics for Kids’ and the Lernwerkstatt for General Studies. The Oldenburg Natural Sciences Centre (NAWI-Haus) also offers courses in physics, chemistry, biology and technology.
Tickets for the spring lectures will be available from Thursday 17 February, exclusively by telephone via Nordwest Ticket GmbH on 0421/363636 and 01805/361136 (14 ct/min) at a price of 2.00 euros.
