2019

Cascade Use ended at the end of September 2019 and the group disbanded. We would like to thank the funding organisation BMBF for the financing and the project management agency DLR for the good support. We all had a lot of fun and were able to make many new contacts.

The final report of Cascade Use is freely available in German.

We are now trying to continue some of the ideas from the last few years with OFFIS.

Merle Heyken wins 2nd prize for SME research

06 December 2019

Every two years, the wiwib e.V. support association in co-operation with the Bremen Chamber of Commerce supports science and especially research in the field of medium-sized companies in the north-west metropolitan region (Bremen/Oldenburg) and awards the SME Research Study Prize. Merle Heyken, a student from Oldenburg, was successful this year with her Master's thesis entitled "Future prospects for biogas plants - between climate protection potential and political framework conditions" and received the 2nd prize of €1500 from Bremen Senator Kristina Vogt. The work was produced in co-operation with Mr Geveke, the operator of the Ihausen biogas plant, a small family business near Westerstede. Mrs Heyken dealt with the post-EEG era and how the political framework conditions affect the future prospects for biogas plants and the feasibility of new concepts. The work was supervised by junior research group leader Dr Alexandra Pehlken and Prof Bernd Siebenhüner at the Department of Economics and Law.
