If you wish to use the HPC cluster, you will first need a university account (e.g. abcd1234). This account must also be a member of a cluster group. Cluster groups are essentially the research groups that use the cluster (you can find a list of all groups and further information about the cluster/research groups here: Unix Groups). Until now, a form on the Scientific Computing homepage was used to apply for an account. This process has now been automated, and it is possible to specify your group assignment yourself. To do so, follow these steps:

• Visit the user management web interface.
• Under ‘Requests’, click on ‘Access to HPC’.
• You will then be redirected straight to the cluster group selection screen ...
• ... and select the group you wish to join.
• Once you have selected a group, confirm your selection by clicking on “Apply”. If your desired group is not listed, please contact .

An administrator will review your proposal and will most likely approve it. You will receive a notification and will then be able to use your university account on the cluster.

Note: If you have joined the wrong group or simply wish to join a different group, you can also follow the steps outlined above.
