Whether your work focuses on theoretical foundations or applications in areas such as natural sciences, medicine, or the humanities, the centre offers a platform to connect with others tackling complex, data-driven challenges.

If you would like to apply to become a member, please complete this online application form (linked).

If you have any questions, our Scientific Coordinator Cassie Short will be very happy to answer your questions. We look forward to future collaborative work and welcoming you into the WIZARD community!

How to join WIZARD

WIZARD welcomes researchers working on methods of data science, machine learning, and AI. Prospective members contact a Centre Council member (or deputy) whose research best matches their own; that Council member sponsors the application to the Council. Admission is decided by simple majority of the Centre Council. Membership is secondary to your home faculty/institute and carries the usual participation rights (full voting rights for members; advisory participation for associate members).

Quick steps

Full Members (UOL academics)

  1. Check eligibility (UOL academic: professor/retired professor or research staff in an advanced academic position).
  2. Identify a Centre Council member/deputy aligned with your field and email them a short CV + 5–10 keywords of methods/areas.
  3. Your sponsor submits your application to the Centre Council.
  4. The Council votes (simple majority). You receive confirmation.

Associate Members (non-UOL scientists, incl. affiliated institutes/industry)

  1. Contact a Council member/deputy aligned with your field (send short CV + 5–10 keywords).
  2. Your sponsor brings the application to the Centre Council.
  3. The Council votes (simple majority). You receive confirmation (associate members participate in an advisory capacity).

We look forward to hearing from you!
