Logistics and Supply Chain Management: current research foci are supply chains and procurement for automotive remanufacturing and markets for automotive recycling. This includes environmental assessments of corresponding reuse and recycling options.

Previous research and professional activities: new IC Technologies in logistics processes, Serious Gaming in logistics and operations, and business process management.


Professional Development

Since 2014, Matthias Kalverkamp is a research scientist in the Cascade Use research group at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. After his graduation in June 2018, he became a Post-Doc in the group.

Prior to joining Cascade Use, Matthias conducted applied research projects and training for graduate students. During his time at BIBA – Bremer Institut für Produktion und Logistik GmbH, he was a work package leader in the EU project ELLIOT and he was responsible for a Scientific and Technological Cooperation (German: WTZ) project with the University Arturo Prat in Iquique/Chile about sustainable raw mineral extraction. Furthermore, he was involved with curriculum development and teaching.

During his master studies, Matthias worked as an independent consultant in the paper industry. For his master thesis, he went to Ecuador to conduct field research about process optimization and change management in international contexts.

Matthias received his Ph.D. (Dr. rer pol.) in 2018 from the School of Computing Science, Business Administration, Economics and Law of the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg with his thesis on “Open-Loop Supply Chains in Circular Marketing Systems”. He further holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in logistics, granted in 2010 by the University of Applied Sciences Münster, and a Bachelor degree (B.A.) in economics and Spanish studies from the University of Duisburg-Essen.
