Theses

If you would like to write your thesis in the subject area of business taxation, you will deal with

  • the analysis of currently altered and / or important tax law norms;
  • research-oriented topics with taxation relevance; conceivable are questions on strategic behaviour of the actors involved in taxation, on optimal incentive setting, on the corresponding NLP-based evaluation of published texts (judgements, speeches, conference calls, etc.) or on the emipirical analysis of data.

All theses should include an analytical or empirical component, and may focus on tax law analysis for Bachelor's theses, while a stronger quantitative focus is expected for Master's theses.

Registration at the department (not at the Examinations Office) is possible within the following time windows:

  • 15 November to 15 January (for theses in the following summer semester);
  • 15 May to 15 July (for theses in the following winter semester).

Applications should be sent by e-mail to lena.wollschlaeger@uol.de, enclosing the following documents:

  • Curriculum vitae;
  • current Stud.IP grade transcript;
  • Bachelor's transcript (only for Master's theses).

When registering, please also indicate the desired starting date. You are welcome to formulate topic suggestions for your thesis; however, this is not required.

If the number of registrations exceeds the capacity of the department, the decision on acceptance will be based on your previous work history and your academic achievements. After the end of the respective registration window, you will receive prompt notification as to whether you have been accepted. If you do not wish to make use of an acceptance, you should deregister immediately.

For B.A. students, the Department of Business Administration and Taxation offers an accompanying course in accordance with § 22 Para. 5 BPO, for M.A. students a research colloquium in accordance with § 5 Para. 9 MPO ("Thesis Colloquium").

Here you will find information (in German language) on the collection of personal data (Art. 13 DSGVO).
